🎹 Piano Lessons Q & A

💳 What are your payment policies?

Tuition is paid monthly in advance and reserves your spot in the schedule. Payments are due by the first lesson of each month. Missed lessons are non-refundable, but with notice, a make-up may be offered depending on availability. Please note that consistent attendance is key to progress!

🎼 How often are lessons?

Lessons are typically once per week, with 30, 45, or 60-minute options depending on the student’s age and level. Consistent weekly lessons are the best way to see steady improvement and stay motivated.

How much should I or my child practice?

It depends on the age and level, but here’s a general guideline:

  • Beginners (ages 7–9): 15–20 minutes a day

  • Intermediate: 30–45 minutes a day

  • Advanced or exam prep: 60+ minutes a day

The most important thing is regular daily practice, even in short sessions. Progress comes from consistency!

🎒 What should I bring to my lesson?

Please bring:

  • All current books and sheet music

  • A notebook or binder for lesson notes

  • Any assigned theory work

  • A positive attitude and curiosity!

If you’re not sure what materials to purchase, I’m happy to provide recommendations.

🎹 Do I need a piano at home?

Yes — to make progress, students need regular access to a piano or a full-size weighted digital keyboard (88 keys). I can help you choose an appropriate option if you're just starting out.

🎵 Do you follow a curriculum or use RCM?

Yes! I often prepare students for RCM exams, festivals, and auditions, but lessons are always tailored to the student's unique goals. Some students focus on classical repertoire, while others explore creative playing, pop, or improvisation.

👧 What ages do you teach?

I teach students ages 7 and up, including teens and adults. Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to the piano after a break, you’re welcome here!

📍 Where are lessons held?

Lessons take place in my home studio in Pitt Meadows, just a short drive from Maple Ridge and Port Coquitlam. It’s a calm, comfortable space designed for focused, distraction-free learning.

📅 Can I book a trial lesson?

Absolutely! Trial lessons are a great way to see if we’re a good fit. Just contact me to schedule one.
